Managing money is a necessary part of living my healthy lifestyle. However,  unexpected life events & every day impulses and wants can often steer me off track. I know I am not alone when I say that life can get expensive! Being a young professional and caring for a family takes a lot of organizing. Between the necessities (such as housing, food, clothes, saving for a rainy day, retirement and the future) & the wants of consumer culture (such as evening outs, activities and vacations) – there’s barely anything left.

An important part of being able to save is knowing what type of spender you are & figuring out whether it’s the best option for your personality type. For example, certain people I know have no restraints when it comes to money. They take the “You Only Live Once” philosophy to its limit. Spend, Spend, Spend … Save, What? They spend more then they have/make & saving is an imaginary ideal that never seems within reach. I constantly try to have conversations with them about money (which never quite goes as planned). Knowing how to manage, maintain and create more money is vital within our culture.

The 3 S’s are not only important for maintaining your preferred lifestyle, but it’s also important for ones health and sanity. Balancing a career and a healthy lifestyle is not possible if one is always stressed out about money. Whether you live pay check to pay check or make a good amount of money each week, saving is possible. Whether you are trying to get out of debt or simply save for that long overdue vacation or first home (ahem…), saving is still possible. It’s a matter of discipline. How badly do you want it? And what sacrifices are you willing to take to make it happen?
