When I think of the businesses and brands that influence me the most, I think of companies that align with my values, vision and mission.

I think of companies that are innovative, that value my business and that create products and services that speaks to a need I currently have.

At the base level, business is a transaction.

We exchange dollars (currency) for something we value and in the end we have a products/service that meets what we’re looking for.

But beyond transaction, beyond the surface, business can be a meaningful exchange that fills a needs AND makes a difference!

If you asked me before what starting a business had to do with starting a movement, I wouldn’t have been able to answer you. I didn’t realize how powerful a movement could be to a brand or business. If you look at Justin Trudeau’s campaign of “Real Change” or the “One Day Without Shoes” campaign launched by Tom’s shoes or even still, the “Live Your Best Life” mantra of Oprah you’ll see a common thread – their decision to stand for a cause was good for business.

Digital technology has changed the way we consume and engage with our favorite brands. We not only expect companies to offer a product or service, we want them to be good people with our best interest at heart. If you want to attract your dream clients, you need to be clear on what your business stands for. Starting a movement requires careful consideration, but when done right can catapult your brand and business success.

On this episode of Business Talks, I sit down with co-founder Nicole Antoine to talk about their brand, the message and the movement that is Four Brown Girls.

Take a look!

Nicole shares her passion for sisterhood and helping other women succeed which is fundamental to our success as a community of ambition black and brown women.

I want to know: what inspires you to keep moving forward in your business? what movement are you willing to champion to bring more meaning into your business?

Let me know in the comments below.

Much love,
