When I was starting out, I never anticipated how much of a faith and resilience walk this journey would be.

With so many moving pieces to consider, plan for and execute on, it was going to require more than just passion to make it through the many highs and lows of being in business.

I had to get clear and focused on what it was I was really trying to accomplish and why it mattered to me, my community, the world!

I had to learn to make the ask, take the risk, step outside my comfort zone to learn what I didn’t know so I could grow into who I knew I could be.

Moreover, I realized that I needed to know who I was and what I had to offer in order to translate with confidence to prospects, future clients and my audience that I was who they’ve been looking for.

Knowing who you are, who you want to serve and why you’re in business to begin with will require that you think deeply about how you want to be known in the marketplace.

In my interview with Priya Chopra, founder of the PR firm 1Milk2Sugars, she shares her journey to becoming her own boss and the mindset required to push through the many moments you will no doubt experience on your path to business success.

Priya dropped some gems on why knowing who you are in business will help you achieve what success can look like for you!

My biggest takeaways were:

Knowing Who You Are Opens You Up To More Opportunities

When you know what you want and can clearly articulate that in the marketplace, you will attract more opportunities that align to your core values and ultimate goal. That simple.

Saying No To The Wrong Things Will Make Space For The Right Things

More opportunities gives you more choice, which can feel overwhelming at times. When you understand who you are, you become more prepared to field off those opportunities that aren’t right for you.

You CAN Make It Happen With Your Family

Priya’s story shows that you can grow a business AND a family and create your own path to success. But you’ll first have to get real with yourself, ask for help and hire out so you have the time for the things that are important and a priority for you.

Nurture Your Intuition

We all have that little voice inside of us that speaks to us (albeit in whispers because of the noise)what we know we should be doing. Learn to nurture and trust yourself and what you know to be true. This is journey is a process not a destination. Nurturing your intuition will be your superpower!

Leverage Where You Are

You may be looking at your marketplace and thinking how can you compete with those in your network, industry or organization. I say, don’t! Don’t compete, compliment. Leverage where you are and what you have to offer to make the difference only you can so uniquely make.
